Three winners are selected from 19 powerful student speeches on the topic of “A quality eduction goes beyond textbooks and videos”

Nagaland, October 18, 2025The Nagaland’s Best Student Speaker 2025 online elocution contest, presented by XSEED Education, brought together the state’s most articulate young minds for an inspiring virtual competition that showcased the power of student voices.

Nineteen contestants, shortlisted from hundreds of applicants across Nagaland, took the stage to share their perspectives on the theme “Quality Education Goes Beyond Textbooks and Videos.” The contest aimed not only to recognize outstanding speakers but also to understand how children themselves view the purpose and promise of modern education.

“Their answers were loud, clear, and wonderfully hopeful,” said judge Aparajita Endow from the XSEED team. “Each speech reflected conviction, curiosity, and a deep belief in education as a force for personal and social change.”

Contestants connected classroom learning to real-world experiences — from science experiments and community projects to reflections on resilience and curiosity. Across nearly every speech, one message resonated: education should prepare students for life, not merely for examinations.

The event concluded with the announcement of three state champions: Merenlemla Elizabeth Longchar, Vineisienuo Yaotsu, and Imkumtoshi Changkiri, whose clarity, confidence, and depth of thought earned top honors.

“The stage might have been virtual, but the voices packed real firepower,” said the organizing team. “It was a reminder of why we do what we do — to help nurture curiosity and confidence in children.”

The competition underscored XSEED Education’s long-standing belief that quality education means active, hands-on learning that builds thinking skills and character alongside knowledge and understanding.

The Nagaland’s Best Student Speaker contest marks another step in XSEED’s effort to empower young learners across regions and countries to think independently, communicate effectively, and engage meaningfully with the world around them.

Campaign to recruit the next generation of young leaders generates impressive response

Singapore, September 22, 2025 — XSEED Education is actively seeking exceptional young leaders to join its mission of transforming elementary education. In a recent LinkedIn post, Founder Ashish Rajpal highlighted the organization’s search for individuals who embody the qualities of “barrels” — people who combine intelligence, execution ability, and self-awareness to drive meaningful impact in education.

The post references a video titled “Barrels and Ammunition Framework for Building Effective Startup Teams,” which outlines a strategic approach to identifying high-performing individuals for organization success.

For XSEED Education, “barrels” are professionals under 35 with strong academic backgrounds from premier institutions worldwide, who demonstrate a deep desire to challenge themselves and make a tangible difference in education. According to Rajpal, while technology, pedagogy, and content are widely available, barriers such as will, skill, and cultural norms continue to limit educational progress around the world.

Interested candidates who meet the criteria can apply through a short online form, which takes under one minute to complete.

The “Barrels” campaign received an enthusiastic response, attracting numerous applicants, with several young leaders joining XSEED within weeks to contribute to its mission.

XSEED Founder Ashish Rajpal shares nine practical tips on preparing children for a rapidly changing future

Singapore, May 3, 2025 — More than 10,000 parents from across Asia and beyond registered for XSEED Education’s first-ever Founder Parent Town Hall, an interactive session led by Founder Ashish Rajpal on the theme “What Can I Do to Help My Child Succeed?”

Speaking with characteristic simplicity and warmth, Ashish shared clear, actionable ideas that parents can immediately apply at home. The session included a live demonstration on how to conduct effective, engaging conversations with children, illustrating XSEED’s hands-on and human-centered approach to learning.

In a highlights video released after the event, Rajpal enumerates nine practical suggestions to help parents prepare their children for a rapidly changing, post-AI world. Drawing on over two decades of experience in education, he emphasizes that the best preparation begins early — particularly before the age of 12 — when children are most open to developing key habits and attitudes.

🎥 Watch the full video here:

Ashish’s nine tips cover a wide range of everyday parenting themes:

  1. Managing Screen Time – Guiding children toward balanced digital habits.
  2. Reading – Building curiosity and comprehension through shared reading experiences.
  3. Doing Things Together – Strengthening learning through joint family activities.
  4. Regular Practice – Encouraging persistence as the key to mastery.
  5. Developing Talent – Recognizing effort as the foundation of skill.
  6. The Basics – Reinforcing core knowledge in English, math, and science that supports long-term success.
  7. Overcoming Fear of Math – Removing labels and building confidence step by step.
  8. Technology & AI – Finding balance between embracing and questioning new tools.
  9. Self-Management & Character Building – Fostering resilience through thoughtful guidance, not overprotection.

The strong turnout and feedback reflect growing parental interest in actionable, experience-based advice for raising confident and capable children.

“As a parent today, I want clarity and calm in an age of overwhelming information. What I perhaps appreciated most was the simplicity of these ideas — deeply practical, yet rooted in long experience,” said Nick Edwards, a parent and member of the XSEED team who conducted a Q&A with Ashish during the event.

The Parent Town Hall marks the first in a planned series of Founder-led conversations designed to strengthen collaboration between educators and parents, equipping families to build strong foundations for life-long learning and confidence.

India, April 1, 2025— As schools across India reopen for the new academic year, XSEED Education Founder Ashish Rajpal has shared a timely video message offering four simple but powerful suggestions for children, parents, teachers, and school leaders on how to begin the year with focus and purpose.

Speaking against the backdrop of a rapidly changing educational landscape, Ashish reflected on the challenges and opportunities ahead. “In a world where facts and information are increasingly handled by artificial intelligence,” he noted, “our task as educators is not to keep up with machines, but to bring out what makes humans exceptional — our ability to think, feel, and create.”

In his message, Ashish outlined four key suggestions for schools to anchor their practice in 2025:

  1. Focus on the basics: Foundational skills in English, math, and science remain the essential building blocks of success.
  2. Trust the XSEED Method: The five-step XSEED learning process continues to deliver lasting gains in comprehension, confidence, and problem-solving.
  3. Make motivation and personalization central: Teachers today must go beyond explanation, inspiring curiosity and tailoring learning to each child’s needs.
  4. Listen to children’s thoughts: Creating space for student voices not only enriches learning but often reveals surprising insight and imagination.

The video encourages educators to begin the year with renewed commitment to clarity, curiosity, and care — the values that lie at the heart of effective teaching and learning.

Hands-on, future-ready learning designed to build coding, creativity, and problem-solving skills

Singapore, November 1, 2024 — XSEED Education has announced the launch of its all-new SuperTeacher Computer Science Program for Grades 1–8, available to schools beginning in the 2025–26 academic year. The program aims to equip children with essential technology and problem-solving skills through a hands-on, age-appropriate approach that blends classroom learning with digital creation.

Benchmarked to international standards in computer science education, the program features two hands-on, experiential lessons per week: one “unplugged” classroom activity using the XSEED Method to introduce key concepts, followed by a digital lab project that brings those ideas to life through coding and software use.

Starting from age six, students learn the logic and creativity behind computing — beginning with block-based coding using Scratch and progressing to text-based coding in Python, mobile app design, and web development with HTML and CSS in higher grades. Beyond coding, the program explores AI and VR, game design, digital citizenship, and practical digital tools such as word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation design.

Each grade includes newly developed content books and workbooks filled with relatable examples, real-world connections, and step-by-step coding guides. The program also features interactive teacher training sessions and prompts for “Do It Yourself” projects to help adults support children’s learning at home.

A distinctive feature of the curriculum is its focus on collaboration and creativity. Students participate in capstone projects where they design and present original digital creations, applying skills in coding, design, and teamwork.

Importantly, the program requires no expensive hardware or paid software, making it accessible to schools with standard computer labs and internet access. All projects are built using free, open-source tools such as Scratch, MIT App Inventor, and Python.

As with the larger SuperTeacher program, the new Computer Science Program is designed to nurture problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills — empowering children to become creators in the digital age.

“I was impressed by how the program moved quickly to students building their own projects,” said Ananya Jain, a Computer Science student at National University Singapore. “I wish I had something like this when I was younger to prepare me for my current studies!”

An hour-long conversation explores experiential learning, innovation, and the future of education in India

New Delhi, October 13, 2024 — XSEED Education Founder Ashish Rajpal appeared on the podcast Badhta India Dekho for an in-depth conversation with host Debojit Sen, offering a rare and candid look into his personal and professional journey in reimagining how children learn. The full-length interview, which has since drawn strong engagement on YouTube and social media, has resonated widely with educators, parents, and entrepreneurs alike.

In the hour-long discussion, Rajpal reflects on his two-decade mission to transform the traditional classroom into an active, dynamic learning space where children think, question, and solve problems — rather than memorize and repeat. Drawing on personal experiences and lessons from building one of Asia’s most innovative education systems, he shares insights on what truly drives meaningful learning outcomes in schools.

Among the themes explored are:

  1. The Power of Experiential Learning: How hands-on, inquiry-based activities make lessons more engaging and help children internalize concepts.
  2. The Central Role of Problem-Solving: Why the ability to apply knowledge creatively and logically is key to thriving in the 21st century.
  3. Technology as an Enabler, Not a Substitute: How digital tools can support personalized learning while keeping the teacher central to the classroom.
  4. India’s Education Landscape: The opportunities and challenges in delivering quality learning at scale, and the systemic changes required for sustained impact.
  5. A Founder’s Journey: The values, setbacks, and convictions that shaped Rajpal’s path from educator to education innovator.

Speaking during the interview, Ashish emphasizes that “real learning happens when children connect what they study to what they experience.” He describes how XSEED’s approach has focused on cultivating curiosity, confidence, and competence — preparing students for life beyond the classroom.

The podcast offers both inspiration and practical insight for those committed to improving education. Viewers have praised the conversation for its honesty, depth, and actionable takeaways.

The Badhta India Dekho episode stands as a compelling resource for educators, school leaders, and parents seeking to understand how experiential learning and strong fundamentals can reshape the future of schooling in India and beyond. Shorter clips were later curated from the talk and featured on XSEED Education’s YouTube channel.

June 2025 — During a recent school visit, XSEED Founder Ashish Rajpal delivered an impromptu session to teachers on the topic “What is XSEED?” It was a spontaneous yet deeply thoughtful address that distilled the essence of XSEED’s philosophy and purpose.

Watch a video excerpt here:

Speaking to a room of teachers preparing for the new academic year, Ashish described the “Head, Heart, Body, and Soul” of XSEED, the four dimensions that he argues form the foundation of great teaching. He emphasized that while structure, training, and tools matter, what ultimately transforms classrooms is the spirit teachers bring to their work.

“The head gives you clarity, the heart gives you connection, and the body gives you the discipline to do your work well,” Rajpal shared. “But the real magic — the part that moves children and makes them believe in themselves — comes from the soul. That’s where teaching stops being mechanical and becomes truly human.”

The session offered teachers an inspiring reminder of why they teach, and reaffirmed XSEED’s mission to help educators move beyond routine instruction to ignite curiosity, confidence, and purpose in every child.

Annual Results Report shows XSEED students have a +21% advantage over non-XSEED students in national test of skills in English, math, and science.

New Delhi: March 14, 2023 – XSEED Education released its Annual Results Report at a warm lively high-tea ceremony at Taj City Center, Gurgaon. The report details the performance of over 61,000 students in Grades 1-8 on the 2022 XSEED Learnometer Skills Test, a national test of English, Math, and Science conducted in 21 states of India. The test is generally considered more difficult than traditional ones as it requires students to apply their knowledge rather than just recall facts and formulas. Apart from the findings, the 38-page report lays out four implications for school education. Proud XSEED employees and their families gathered to celebrate the release.

Of the encouraging findings, the most impressive was that XSEED students showed a +21% performance advantage over non-XSEED students in the challenging middle school grades (6, 7, 8). This is remarkable as middle school is when students tend to struggle with increasingly abstract and complex syllabus content. The results demonstrate that the XSEED Program’s focus on three core skill areas – Conceptual Understanding, Problem Solving, and Communication – builds a strong foundation for higher grades.

Furthermore, the longer a school had been using the XSEED program, the greater were the benefits to middle school scores.

Another finding in the report highlighted some dramatic benefits of XSEED for struggling students. Those in the bottom third of test-takers improved by an overall average of +55% in same-student scores in just one year, with middle school students showing even higher gains of an astonishing +136%.

The report went on to outline four important implications of these findings for K-8 education. First, it noted the importance of fostering independence in children. In the words of one school leader, XSEED students were already ‘independent problem solvers’ when Covid hit, which may have helped them cope with the reduced support of remote learning. Second, the report highlighted the role of language mastery in academic success. XSEED students have long had the reputation of speaking and writing well in their own words, which translated into strong results across skills and subjects. Third, XSEED students were able to avoid a large ‘middle school slump’ in academic performance, which is commonly observed not just in India but worldwide. In fact, some of the biggest gains came in middle school. Finally, there was clear evidence that an effective academic system can help students and schools overcome challenging contexts. Both struggling students and low-fee schools showed dramatic gains after 3+ years of using the XSEED program.

“For years we have had rich qualitative evidence about the superior performance of XSEED children, especially in application-based problems and in English language expression. This report now provides the quantitative underpinnings of this performance. What is remarkable is that these foundational strengths help the children stay competitive in the challenging middle-school years (grade 6, 7, 8) when the performance of most students falls off.  XSEED children will compete much better in higher grades, entrance exams, and in the job market,” said XSEED Founder Ashish Rajpal in the release address at the event. “This affirms that XSEED truly builds a  child’s foundation for life .”

The XSEED academic program is a research-based teaching and learning system that is running in schools from Nursery to Grade 8. It improves the conceptual thinking & understanding of children, strengthens English language expression, and enhances confidence. Since its international launch in 2014, XSEED has served 2 million children in over 220 districts and more than 20 states across India and has been deployed in eight countries including India, the Philippines, and the Middle East.

Growth in EdTech investments is not the same as better learning outcomes. That will require technology to better understand the human learning process and solve the fundamental problems that plague it.

Global EdTech investments more than halved in 2022. Indian EdTech has not been immune: investments dropped 40%. The industry that could not hire fast enough, has laid off up to 10,000 employees in 2022. Hundreds of thousands of crores in losses have been reported. There are rumours that the “unicorns” are no longer so magical and are in financial trouble. What’s going on?

EdTech, short for education technology, comprises of products and services that deploy technology for better results in education. At least that’s the theory. For the past two decades, businesses have tried to exploit the market opportunity through several offerings, including digital classrooms (hardware), learning management systems (software), video content, adaptive learning, big data, and more recently through promises of utilising blockchain, artificial intelligence, and machine learning.

While Covid was devastating for many, it proved to be a boon for many EdTech companies. Children were confined to their homes, and parents were concerned about their academic learning; they were eager to adopt an educational alternative and ways to keep the children occupied. Enter the EdTech companies. Armed with massive funding from venture and private equity firms, these companies launched a massive advertising and sales assault on parents, offering recorded or live videos, various online practice apps, and also “personalised” tutorial options. These were generally expensive, requiring a commitment of tens of thousands of rupees or even lakhs, and backed by attractive freemium and EMI deals.

As Covid ended and normalcy returned, the pressing need to engage children at home waned. Studies on the efficacy of some of these products began to emerge; concerns about screen time resurfaced, and parents became more cautious about jumping on the bandwagon. That in turn has had a cascading effect on sales, valuations, and funding. A study among parents showed extremely low levels of satisfaction with K–12 EdTech offerings. Less than a third of parents were likely to renew the product they were using, and they had a negative NPS (net promoter score that indicates the likelihood of recommending the product to others). The number one reason for dissatisfaction seems to be the product’s quality: a lack of doubt resolution, the quality of teachers, and insufficient personal attention.

John Hattie of University of Melbourne, arguably the foremost expert on measurement of learning outcomes, studied data of 80 million students from 50,000 studies from around the world. His research discovered that “teacher-related” factors have the greatest influence on students’ learning outcomes. Hattie also emphasises the significance of softer aspects such as students’ self-esteem and level of “striving” or “challenge” in the learning process. His writings refer to Edtech as the “emperor’s new clothes” with “shiny gadgetry” but no data that shows any transformative impact. Not everybody likes Dr. Hattie’s methods and manner, but his message cannot be ignored.

Technology-based educational solutions are not always doomed to fail. A large-scale study of over 61,000 school-age students in India, conducted by a Singapore-based organisation, found 31% same-student gains learning within one year post-Covid.

Education is a complex process marked by individual differences. Even before EdTech, with its promises and failures, education was grappling with many fundamental problems: the diverse distribution of talents, the uneven distribution of motivation, and the move from knowledge to learning. These are hard problems that will need many iterations. However, the desire to solve them, combined with an evidence-based approach, is critical. Funding and marketing alone will not do.

All evidence to date suggests that there is no one silver bullet. The most likely path forward is a combination of pedagogy, personalisation, and measurement (goals, outcomes, feedback). If tech can concretely address some of these fundamental issues, it’s in business. If not, we will keep discovering melting glaciers and giants with feet of clay.
